How do you appreciate written words?
When do you decide it's the best you've heard?
What strikes that chord deep within?
How are you moved to read it again?

What makes you feel the author lacks skill?
Why do you think some words never fulfill?
Why do you cringe at certain compositions?
How do you judge an author's pointless mission?

Tears may fall and stomachs still turn
When reading words composers claim will earn
Full attention, deep introspection; and you wait
For the moment words become your soul mate.

Words you treasure may repulse another
But not every heart can feel the smother
Of one author's feelings displayed through pen
Some won't see me but others will read again.
